Think Italian food and we think of fresh, colourful ingredients in dishes that feed the stomach and soul. After a good Italian meal we’re reminded of the moments immediately after rain, when the sky starts to clear, and flowers and leaves are dewy – that is, if the meal has been cooked by a masterful chef. Today, it’s our pleasure to invite you to a ristorante in Bangkok metropolis where your taste-buds will be satiated by London-based, acclaimed Italian Chef Theo Randall.
Located at Intercontinental Bangkok hotel, you can spot Theo Mio by Chef Theo Randall from the BTS Skywalk between Siam and Chitlom stations. You can dine in the curvilinear dining space with its décor of tasteful realistic-looking trees, or else sit on the outdoor terrace under blue-and-white shades for a drink and view of city inhabitants passing by.
Here’s our list of recommended dishes that will prove their creator’s masterful touch:
Sourdough Pizza: crispy pizza with pastes and toppings of your choice. We love the Margherita, Napoletana, Trifolata, Diavola and Prosciutto di Parma.
Arancini di Funghi con Tartufo: fried short-grain rice balls stuffed with mushroom. This antipasto has crunch that is complimented by the accompanying creamy truffle aioli, and each bite is so satisfying that you won’t pause until it’s finished.
Burrata e Pepperoni Piemontese: fresh burrata is served along slow-roasted red pepper stuffed with tomatoes, basil and salted anchovy. This divine combination is a wonderful balancing act between creamy and mild burrata, piquant red pepper and salty anchovy.
Carpaccio di Manzo: slivers of beef fillet topped with toasted pine nuts, wild rocket, Parmesan shavings and a dash of aged balsamic vinegar. The juicy meat melts in your mouth.
Pappardelle con Ragu di Guancia di Manzo: handmade, wide ribbon pasta with slow-cooked Wagyu beef cheeks in a rich red wine and rosemary sauce, with tomato.
For your ‘final stop’, or dessert, order the Crostata di Limone. This lemon tart, served with crème fraiche, provides a clean burst of citrus flavour to refresh your palate at the end of the meal.
