The Cuisine of Central Thailand

Central Thailand is home to some of the country’s renowned dishes, including rich in coconut milk curries and spicy salads that use hot, sour, sweet and salty in perfect harmony. In May, chefs at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit’s award-winning Thai restaurant, basil, will elevate classic dishes from the central region to new levels of sophistication using premium ingredients and authentic recipes.

At basil, diners can enjoy a 4-course set menu of authentic central region dishes. Appetizers include Yum Som O Taohu – Shredded pomelo and water chestnut salad with dried tofu or Yum Mamuang Poo Nim Thod – Spicy green mango salad with choice of crispy fried soft shell crab. There is also Tom Yum Goong – Spicy prawn soup with lemongrass, galangal and kaffir lime, and three main courses to choose from; Gaeng Phed Ped Yang – Roast duck in red curry with apple and basil; Pla Nueng Manao – Steamed seabass with garlic, chilli and lime sauce and Phad Pak Ruam Mid – Sautéed mixed vegetables. The central region set lunch ends with a dessert of Kluay Kai Buad Chee – Banana in warm coconut milk.
