If you are looking for a relatively special recreational experience, the Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Merlin Beach, could be the place, where leisure harmoniously blends with natural conservation.
SETTING THE SCENE
The Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Merlin Beach, is definitely a family-friendly destination, as a variety of activities are available for guests of all ages. The hotel stands out with its own vast house reef to be seen in the crystalline sea right at the undisturbed Tri-Trang beach.
In collaboration with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Merlin Beach, is cordially committed to the environment, conservation, and supporting Thailand’s local communities. The Reef Education Center has been developed exclusively as a part of the coral reef conservation project. The staff could expertly educate guests and communities about beach and aquatic animals, as well as ecosystems.
The Butterfly Sanctuary project aims to expand the wild population of native butterflies before returning them to their natural habitats. Scheduled tours are available for guests who would like to study the lives of the colourful little creatures first-hand.
There are 414 guestrooms in total, from pool and beach view rooms, pool access rooms, privileged beach access rooms, to luxury suites. The hotel features three magnificent lagoon-style swimming pools. The main pool is the beauteous location of the swim-up Pool Bar. Others include the Family Pool, which is especially facilitated for kids, and the segregated Nahm Tok Pool, decorated with a touch of tropics.
I spent an afternoon exploring the underwater world by snorkelling. After a few swimming minutes from the beach, I beheld unbelievably healthy coral reef, which could not be easily found near the shore. I vividly enjoyed watching those jolly aquatic lives, so that I forgot about the strong heat from the summer sun.
This place has a wide array of outlets and bars. The D.O.C.G serves fine Italian dishes with an enticing choice of wines. Full-flavoured Thai cuisine at the Thai Pantry tastes impressively delicious, and I could not get enough of Kai Satae. At the Beach Grill, I remember savouring the taste of freshly grilled seafood, coupled with glasses of delectable white wine. The Merchant Kitchen features made-to-order cooking for more casual dining. In the half-light, I relished sipping a Piña Colada at the Beach Bar while watching the sky changing colour.
WHY I’D RETURN
The sound coral reef absolutely impressed me, so I would like to inspect the underwater ecosystem more closely by scuba diving. The Butterfly Sanctuary would be in the plan of my next visit as well.
