New Chapter of Nightlife in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is not the place where you can spend your night in-room while there are millions of nocturnal entertainments out there waiting for you to spoil yourself with. Particularly this winter, some spices are added into nightlife hotspots by leading Hong Kong hospitality group Dining Concepts, in conjunction with acclaimed award-winning Australian designer Ashley Sutton. Let us introduce you to the latest three cocktail bar and music spaces which are claimed to be the new chapter of Hong Kong nightlife.

Ophelia | Where Imaginations Go Wild

Hidden away above the newly opened al fresco pedestrian arcade The Avenue at the heart of Wan Chai, Ophelia is inspired by the once-iconic bird emporium. The designer chooses the pattern of peacocks, most prized kind of bird, to decorate the house. Ophelia would remind you of the opium den-styled boudoirs dressed in plush velvet, metalwork and leather.

You can find Le Plumage, the signature cocktail at the main bar, or settle down at provided private corners where modern tapas dishes are served by Australian Chef. The steel-lined covered terrace, complete with oversized birdcage, is the perfect backdrop for the venue’s seductive nightly performances.

J.Boroski | Where Creativity is King

The international jetset ‘mixsultant’, Joseph Boroski, has now taken things to the next level, opening his eponymous bespoke cocktail space in a hidden location below bustling Hollywood Road. He’s ready to serve you his unique ‘cocktail concierge service’ where ever drink is customized and crafted from scratch, using an enviable craft spirits, home infusions and small-batch bitters.

J.Boroski benefits from the machinations of Ashley Sutton, the designer, who has completed the space with curved timber ceilings with tons of leather-bound beetles, a long bar made of teak and a series of deep-set booths. Here is the perfect private den to end your day with world-class mixology.

The Iron Fairies | Become Bewitched

Partygoers in Bangkok and Tokyo might be familiar with The Iron Fairies, Sutton’s own signature live music space which is recently open here in the middle of the Fragrant Harbour. Inspired by his time working at the iron ore mines in Australia and fairy tales, Sutton brings an enchanted metal workshop to life.

Live jazz, blues and rock combines well with creative cocktails and palatable food. You can feast while observing otherworldly interiors including private spaces made of furnaces, sacks of fairy dust hanging from the walls, iron-forged figurines and upside-down garden of above 10,000 butterflies.
