Japanese Craft

Japanese cuisine in Bangkok is available in variety and only one skytrain stop away from hectic Siam Paragon,  within a short walk from Ratchatewi station, VIE Hotel Bangkok, MGallery by Sofitel’s YTSB (Yellow Tail Sushi Bar) is on the spotlight. The scene is contemporary yet warm with a wood-dominated interior. The undulating wooden-beam ceiling looks like a huge fish net above the dining room, which comprises of sushi counter seats and banquettes. For a larger group, the upper dining area can be closed off into a private room overlooking the cityscape.

One finds the menu alluring, but equally enticing is the rare selections of sake to match. Furthermore, there are a variety of house and sour cocktails, spirits and choices of Shochu to choose from. YTSB satisfies those who love to explore the fancy rolls created by Master Chef here, with exceptional and fresh ingredients flown weekly from Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji Fish Market.

Kaisakaya Gensen Wagyu Tataki is essentially a spread of marbled slices of Wagyu sirloin beef, lightly seared and drizzled with garlic soy sauce (THB720). The tender beef is the finest must-have here.

Hamachi Dry Miso (THB420), the thinly sliced yellow tail sprinkled with chef’s own dry Miso powder and spiked with Yuzu juice, creating a delicate balance on the palate.

Yellow Spy (THB420) a visually appealing fusion cuisine, consisting of salmon avocado topped with a mango slice and salmon roe with coconut sauce. What a creative dish.

The house signature comes to Rossini (THB780). Sliced tender Wagyu beef, teriyaki sauce, Foie Gras and asparagus wrapped with rice, enhanced with white truffle Miso sauce, and topped with deep-fried lotus root slices. The combination of steak house and Japanese finesse is hard to resist.

Lastly is the sushi chosen by the Master Chef, coming with an appropriate sauce or wasabi in the morsels so divinely delicious extra soy sauce is needless. For those diners who want to try all at YTSB, Tabe-Hodai (THB3,000++) could be the best solution. This promotion happens only on the first Wednesday of every month, and proves to be popular. Enjoy a three hours of unlimited orders from a selected menu: on offer are Foie Gras and sweet shrimp sushi, Toro sashimi, tempura, grilled Gindara, Australian beef, and more.
