SETTING THE SCENE
Residing on the manmade island Odaiba, the Grand Pacific Le Daiba is in super expedient reach. A mere one minute on foot away from Daiba Station on Yurikamome Line, the hotel is about 20 minutes away by taxi from Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), and 70 minutes from Narita International Airport. ‘Grand’ as stated in the name, the hotel lobby area is spacious with high elaborated ceilings. The staff were attentive and helpful. The hotel is capable to handle all sizes of events with its premium facilities.
The generous size of the guestroom got my first contentment as I walked in. And the really ‘wow’ factor went to the restroom that was not only roomy, but fully equipped with high-quality amenities at every corner. Opening the curtain and the majestic sight of the Tokyo Bay was at reach. The night was falling and the yielding bed covered with finest linen plus super soft pillows was so alluring. I was delighted as more than enough international-supported sockets are found.
There are ten restaurants and bars on offer within the building. “Star Road Dining & Bar” uses French preparation techniques to cook to perfection “Hamayu”, on the top floor, offers Teppan-yaki by skilful chefs while “Oshima” Japanese restaurant, built in the sukiya style (tea-ceremony house), serves traditional Japanese cuisine that is reminiscent of the glory of the olden days. “Kanroku” serves the best sushi from the harbour. Elegant typical Chinese meals are prepared and served in style at “Ro-Lan”, while “Incontro” serves finest Italian cuisine.
The lobby café “Le Bouquet” caters buffet lunch and dinner while sweets are in for tea break, while “Herbette” is a French-style café restaurant. And “g&g” might ring the bell with its buffet-style dining. Whatever restaurant you opt for, end the night at “Ruy Lopez” – the main bar of the hotel with a variety of world-famous alcoholic drinks and cigars. As for me, Oshima was my choice and I would say a faultless one with its lavish ‘kaiseki’ traditional exquisite dinner.
WHY I’D RETURN
The spaciousness of the guestrooms (30-42 sq.m), as well as everywhere else in the hotel, makes it stand out from the usual Japanese hotel’s minuscule space. The 24-hour convenient store of the hotel is also pretty impressive with supplies ranging from fresh food to favourite Japanese cartoon characters goodies.
