SWEETY & SUGAR

This pastel-coloured dessert bar with its decor theme of sugar crystals aptly reflects the dreams of its owner pastry chef. Start with ‘Crump B’, a mushroom-shape cake that is actually an apple crumble with a soft and smooth taste. Follow that with ‘Shugaa’, a signature dessert with Japanese influence in the Matcha cake, along with homemade matcha ice-cream placed on a charcoal crumble. For a drink that is not too sweet try the Strawberry Lychee Tea. Besides the desserts, a brunch menu is served all day long as well as a la carte dishes ranging from ‘Magret de Canard’ – the signature smoked duck breast with raspberry sauce and miso – to the ‘Country-Style Deep-Fried Chicken’ which is fried chicken served with mornay and barbecue sauces and accompanied by a scone and salad.

YUMMY CREAMINESS

Nahim Cafe reflected its joyful character in every detail – its mood and tone, the furniture and decor, and the menu. The offerings are delicious and playful, such as the hot chocolate which customers make themselves in a fondue mug after choosing from three chocolate flavours – Dark, Milk or White Chocolate. The breakfast set is also popular, wholewheat bread and the vegetable soup and salad served on the side. For dessert the Strawberry Nutella is a must, with the rich Nutella perfectly balanced out with the sassy and sour strawberries. You should not miss one of the six very unusual Cold Brew Teas, which were brewed in the fridge for eight hours and served in lovely bottles to indicate the tea flavour inside.

VEGGIE GOODIES

We highly recommend the cool Veganerie Concept, which serves quality vegan bakes made without dairy products. It uses carefully selected grains and dairy-free soy milk from Australia, so we are certain that all the offerings are cholesterol-free, nutritious and contain fewer calories. The menu consists of European and Thai dishes such as: ‘Vegan Signature Chicken Pops & Fries’ made from Taiwanese mushrooms and fried in rice bran oil; ‘Green Curry & Roti’ with the curry made with tofu substituting for fish balls, fresh coconut milk, and served with oil-free air-fried roti; ‘Vegan Sausage Zoodles’ made with zucchini spaghetti, tomato sauce and vegan sausage. You will be satisfied by the ‘Brownie Smoothie’ made with dark chocolate brownie mixed with soy milk, and topped by brownie bits and whipped cream made of coconut.

CLASSY NATURE

Emmie’s is unique both in decor and menu. The building was renovated to become an airy glasshouse café surrounded by calming trees, bright with natural light. The most remarkable indoor feature is the date palm tree in the middle of the cafe. The coffee Emmie serves is fine Arabica from Roots. A recommended dish for those wanting something a little spicy is ‘Pasta, Pesto Tuna’ which is tuna mixed with cheese, tomatoes and rocket. ‘Braised Short Rib’, steam-cooked until it melts in your mouth. Finish your meal with ‘Crème Brulee’ which has fruit added as a surprise. The sourness of the berries contrasts with the sweetness of the brule perfectly.

IT’S ALL ABOUT EGGS

The restaurant uses white-shell eggs from Italian imported hens. It has three signature sauces from which to choose to pour over your main rice and egg dish. The first is a White Sauce, carbonara-like with a rich, salty and buttery mouth-feel that is best matched with ham, mushrooms, bacon and spinach. If you prefer meats, such as deep-fried chicken, the Red Wine Sauce would be a better match. The biggest hit with customers is the Tom Yum Sauce, not too fiery but which goes so well with most ingredients. Order the Red Egg Salad together with your main dish. The added richness will delight your taste-buds and stay in your memory.
