CENTARA GRAND MIRAGE BEACH RESORT PATTAYA

SETTING THE SCENE

After several turns on the small lane off the main road, Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya wows its guests with its gigantic sculptures at the entrance, followed by the artistic and iconic roof of the lobby area. As we proceeded in, staff dressed in Superman and princess costumes awaited to welcome the young guests with balloons to give away. The receptionist was polite but the check-in procedure took some time, as there are altogether 555 rooms and suites nested in the two 18-storey towers

GETTING COMFORTABLE

The minimum room size of 42 square metres guarantees that whatever type of accommodation room you are opting for, you’ll be delegated to a great space to unwind. The Lost World jungle theme does follow you into the interior of the guestroom. The panoramic balcony of each guestroom that overlooks the ocean is very inviting. The bed is super comfy, not too soft but just right, while the linen delicate. Necessary amenities are provided in the changing area which is separated from the room by a curtain.

DINING OPTIONS

The lounge area filled with comfortable seating in casual ambience overlooking the sea definitely enhances the already-great stay. This new Oceans Beach Club Bar & Grill serves healthy dishes and fancy cocktails, while at dusk, the BBQ of fresh-catch-from-the-sea takes centre stage with its mouthwatering hickory charcoal infuse. Ginger & Lime sits in the resort garden with Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine in the menu, while Acqua serves modern Italian with the focus on fresh seafood, and Zulu boasts a lively bar with a DJ.

WHY I’D RETURN

With five swimming pools, 12 waterslides of different lengths and features, the waterfalls, and the lazy river, one would not easily get enough of the fun under the sun and that includes me. Although the lounge beds seemed to be all occupied, the waterworld did not feel crowded at all. The latest vivid Monsoon Island was superb and the excitement started from the first step off the rope bridge. A gigantic water bucket was hung up high and did make a splash down whenever it was filled with water, creating a shrilly laugh from time to time. Water sprays, water gun shooters, water ratchet, water umbrella, water flower, waterspout and much more took turns to squelch. The soft furnished floor is ideal for the little ones since you never know when the fun might lead to a tumble.
